I stayed because I thought I had to.

For seventeen years, I told myself things would change. I told myself the bruises would fade, the shouting would stop, and the man I married would remember how to love me. But behind our front door, Luke made sure I forgot who I was. He took my voice, my strength, and piece by piece, he took everything that made me, me.

People saw a husband. I saw only a monster.

When I finally understood there was no escape - not from him, not from what he’d turned my life into - I made the only choice I believed was left to me. I ended my life.

But dying was not the end of my story.

Before I left, I wrote the truth. Every lie he told. Every bruise he made me hide. Every secret he thought would stay buried with me. My letter is waiting, and when it’s read, the life Luke built on fear and silence will begin to fall apart.

If he thought death would silence me, he was wrong.

Luke will soon learn that some goodbyes are only the beginning.
